My paintings are fictional spaces, open to interpretation.

Every element signifies an event in the course of the painting. These layered events suggest the passing of time and changes ensue. There is an imaginative or narrative aspect to the work, which coexists with the more literal, formal activity of creating abstract paintings. My engagement with the work parallels my life: issues of the moment fade away as more immediate situations develop; calculated decisions, intuition and randomness all play a part; the ending is like a quiet pause on the way to something else. I am always surprised.

Quinton Bemiller is a Los Angeles based painter. His work has been included in group exhibitions at Arena 1, Santa Monica, CA and the Armory Center for the Arts, Pasadena, CA. He is the recipient of fellowships from the Armory Center for the Arts and Claremont Graduate University, where he completed his MFA in 2007. Quinton Bemiller also studied at The Art Institute of Boston (BFA 2000) and Pasadena City College (AA 1998). He is on the faculty of Chaffey College, Rancho Cucamonga, CA and is the facilitator of numerous classes and workshops for Los Angeles artists and collectors. Along with Chuck Feesago, Quinton Bemiller coordinates Project_210, an artist-run exhibition space in Pasadena, CA.
