I am a French-American artist presently working and living in Paris, France. My desire to live outside the box of ascribed conventions motivated me to continue from Cyprus where I completed a Graduate Diploma in Fine Art. I've exhibited in Galleries and private spaces internationally-California, Cyprus and Paris, France.
I work in a traditional style of painting that uses layers of glaze to create lustrous textures and depth. The theme of my work focuses on the human body engaged in sex. I use this as a metaphor and a context for describing the human condition, forces of nature and other universal notions. Compositions are created through the use of layered imagery and subtle variations in color and tone. My painting is informed by work that I've done [and continue to do] in sculpture and forms and mass are an important element in my painting-much of which is large format. My work is fueled by a desire to convey emotion and sensation through art.
One of my guiding principles is the element of desire. Through the visual matter of representational painting I explore what motivates people...and I aim to disturb attitudes of casual indifference and blaze cynicism that restricts and confines people in their capacity to change their environment.
