Ana Pimentel's work with her colourful compositions conveys a various layers and compression of Space, Time and Identity. Combining geometric motifs and shapes includes references to Portuguese Traditional Culture (Festivity, Folklore, ornamental shapes, symbols, Mosaic,Flowers, sewing, embroidery and lace). In her highly worked and the vibrant and intense colour paintings Ana Pimentel creates new narratives, building plans and architectural forms; paintings that are built up through layers of acrylic paint on canvas and using a technique of collage.
Engaged both the composition visual of colour, line and textures, experimenting with different scale and materials. The combination of harmony with often violent contrasts results in a visual experience that seems musical.
