statement
n the subject of humor, Claes Oldenburg once said, “The artist oscillates between magician and clown”. Although I think I attempt to be both magician AND clown simultaneously. In my work, I always start with a joke. Yet, much like a magician conceals his methods, I would like the punch line of this initial joke to be deferred, so as not to be immediately consumed. By utilizing humor as an engaging apparatus, I wish to draw the viewer into the basic premise of my project. Though I think that the themes that are present in The Lost Artworks are fairly cryptic initially, I hope to keep the viewer intrigued from the start. That way, they are inclined to investigate further what is in front of them.
