Media artist Jesper Alvaer will screen a program of contemporary video art shorts from the Czech Republic and discuss the media art scene in that country. EZTV Director Michael Massucci will guest moderate a discussion about media art internationally.
Jesper Alvaer was born 1973 in Copenhagen, grew up in Oslo, and is now living in Prague. Throughout his career he has exhibited his works in numerous one-man and group exhibitions, including Prague, Bratislava, Oslo, Budapest, Paris, Berlin, Stuttgart, Leipzig, Belfast, Seattle, Los Angeles, Dundee, London, Lisbon, Wroclaw, Hong Kong, Kokura, Beijing, China, Chicago, New York, Delft, Graz and Vienna. He has studied in Oslo, Kitakyushu, New York City, and Montpellier and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. His residency is sponsored by the Trust for Mututal Understanding.
Michael Masucci is a pioneer in the desktop and digital video movement and an award-winning multidisciplinary artist whose work has been seen on the BBC, BRAVO, PBS as well as in such institutions as New York’s Museum of Modern Art and London’s Institute of Contemporary Art. As Director of EZTV, a 25 year-old media arts organization, he has overseen the production and exhibition of thousands of projects. EZTV has worked with or presented people as diverse as Keith Haring, Jean-Luc Godard, Robert Altman, Arthur C. Clark, Allen Ginsberg, Rebecca Allen, and Dr. Timothy Leary.
