STANTON HUNTER: Accumulations
Project_210 is pleased to present Accumulations, new work by Stanton Hunter. Gathering materials from the industrial area surrounding the gallery, the artist has created self-described shard towers and collections utilizing debris specific to the neighborhood. Asphalt, glass and metal are some of the found resources referencing both recent past and near future developments along the Walnut Street corridor. Both geological and archeological, the towers function as modern ruins while the collections – compound objects pieced together – synthesize into enigmatic forms, asserting their own character. Stanton Hunter’s public projects include those for California State University at Bakersfield, University of California at Irvine and Armory Center for the Arts, Pasadena. His work has been exhibited nationally and in China, Italy and South Africa. Stanton Hunter received an MFA from the University of Southern California, where he studied ceramics with Ken Price. He previously chaired the ceramics program at Scripps College and is currently Associate Professor at Chaffey College, Rancho Cucamonga. He lives in Sierra Madre, CA. Contact: Quinton Bemiller or Chuck Feesago, Project_210.
