Angles Gallery is pleased to present Sculptors’ Drawings: Ideas, Studies, Sketches, Proposals, and more, a group exhibition comprised of drawings and their notational equivalents by 46 Los Angeles based sculptors spanning several generations. The drawings in this context represent the elements of the artist’s process; they can develop at the point of inspiration, perspiration and/or completion. They can take the form of generative exercises (inventing imagery, exploring themes and sources), studies (exploring form, figure, scale, structure, motion, spatial relationship and perception, atmosphere, surface and texture), finished drawings (of entire compositions or of components), schematic diagrams, conceptual and monumental projects, the finished sculpture as subject (drawn after the sculpture is completed), the finished sculpture as study (drawn as a basis for revisions or the beginning of another sculpture) and proposals for commissions. The exhibition will open with a public reception for the artists on Saturday, 4 August from 6-8 PM.
