Creation Myth by Robert Todd
Robert Todd - Creation Myth (2007, 39.3MB, 5:46) Robert Todd is a master of 16mm. With an enormous catalog behind him and no sign of his work ceasing in the near future, Todd is slowly migrating his work onto his personal website. What a treat for us. This piece, Creation Myth, is one of several I will repost here over time, to show respect for these subtle, moving visions. Todd says: “Love of sky, love of earth and air, with water helping us along form the backdrop to this reflection of life-... [more]

"It's a victory for booksellers and the arts community but most importantly for the First Amendment"

Propay
I found out about Propay, where you can use your phone or computer to take your art buyer's credit card information. The funds are deposited to your Propay account and then spend it or transfer it to your US bank account (Propay is a Canadian company). You can watch a demostration on their website. The price seems very reasonable and i will consider it when Open Studios happens in October. I felt somewhat swindled when i had my show in Chicago as a significant chunk was taken out of every s... Pommery Pop America Champagne
by Tamara Warren Independence Day extravaganzas, election hoopla and Olympic action—'tis the season for Americana and celebration. Joining designers from Milan to Middle America who are touting the red, white and blue as the aesthetic of the moment on and off the runway, Pommery's Pop America Champagne in pint-size packaging makes for a perfect pour and party favor. Designed with stars streaming across a blue background and red and white stripes leading up to the silver bottleneck, the b... [more]

4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)
"Did you hear the cops finally busted Madam Marie for tellin' fortunes better than they do...""Back in the day when I was a fixture on the Asbury Park boardwalk, I'd often stop and talk to Madam Marie as she sat on her folding chair outside the Temple of Knowledge. I'd sit across from her on the metal guard rail bordering the beach, and watched as she led the day trippers into the small back room where she would unlock a few of the mysteries of their future. She always told me mine looked prett... [more]

Carnaval del Corazón: It's Getting Hot Inside
Patssi Valdez's The Magic Room Upstairs at SAAM you can visit the exhibition The Honor of Your Company Is Requested: President Lincoln's Inaugural Ball and you can see how well you waltz, thanks to handy dance diagrams that are right on the floor. And when you've perfected your waltz, come downstairs and try some moves that would have turned heads during the Lincoln ball. Lipstick and Lace
"Lipstick" Variegated Yarn - Gull Lace StitchLast night I did a practice swatch for my Lipstick February Lady Sweater in the gull lace pattern. I'm almost done with the yoke portion of the sweater. I thought that the lace pattern might be too busy with the variegation of the yarn. I was right. Too much goin' on for my taste. I will probably continue the body of the sweater in garter stitch with a slipped stitch every inch or so to elongate the look....much like I used for my Mom's taupe sweater.I've received SO m... September Sweetness: Work in Progress
We are in full-production with the development of our installation, September Sweetness, for the Singapore Biennale. The past months have been mainly logistical challenges, but Yangon-based artist Aung Ko is now safely with us in Vietnam and fully engaged in the work. As I've said before, this blog, as the digital counterpart to my sketchbook, is record of ideas and processes. How Much Social Networking is Too Much?
Social Media Marketing is obviously a common way for bloggers to generate some exposure for their own work. But at the same time, if the time that you spend using social media is not limited, it’s possible to spend all of your time doing things that will not directly bring results to your blog. Before I get into this post, it should be noted that I’m approaching this subject from the perspective of a blogger who is primarily using social media as a means to generate traffic and make connections with... Scenes from a life online
I note the passing of Critical Miami with a certain disappointment and wonder at what point you should really just admit that you're not merely on hiatus, but halted. Creative Capital invites me, as an alumnus of their Professional Development Program, to their Ning network. Freeway Series
So the Angels lost on Saturday in a historic no hit game against the Dodgers. And it was painful to watch. Needless to say, I heard SO MUCH from so many people about the film that Janice was working on with Milk Products for her riveting book, Have You Found Her, that we publicized together when it came out this spring.
